Wood Studio: we only use raw materials that have been sustainably harvested. Much of our bowl blank material is from dead standing and/or danger trees that we have chainsawed into chunks (as bowls are best made from fresh, green pieces of wood that are then rough shaped and allowed to dry for a period of a year or more before being revisited and potentially turned into finished product) right here on Vancouver Island. In addition to our locally sourced wood, we are fortunate to have transported with us a unique inventory of sustainably harvested Ontario hardwood species not readily available here on the West Coast. Our finishes are eco friendly, durable and completely food safe.

Pottery Studio: much of the wares are made from stoneware clay with either a white matte or gloss glaze. The idea is that each piece should tuck in seamlessly to your collection, getting maximum use and enjoyment out of the finished product. Nothing goes to waste, either - clay scrapes get recycled and reclaimed on a regular basis. We are currently working on creating pieces using custom slip cast moldings as well - making our own shapes then creating forms out of plaster which can then be molded repeatedly with a liquid form of clay (porcelain).

We are husband and wife makers. We started Miller + Co Wood Studio together in 2013 in Ontario, growing it from our initial concept/passion into two consecutive commercial spaces as we grew, and now across Canada here in the Cowichan Valley, Duncan, BC to put down our roots.
Miller + Co Wood Studio (Devin) is currently focusing on lathe turned goods for 2021 until his permanent shop is re-established and he can resume crafting his distinctive furniture designs alongside his turning and other wood-good offerings.
Miller + Co Pottery (Jen) is now full time potter since arriving on the coast and setting up her home based studio. Jen's focus is on minimalist, functional, beautifully crafted pieces that are intended to make every day living feel a little more cozy and special.
