Miller + Co. Flower Farm is new to the Cowichan Valley. We are just under 3 acres on the traditional and unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples, the traditional territory of the Quw’utsun (Cowichan) Tribes. Our mission is to produce fresh, premium hand tied bouquets brimming with our own farm grown specialty blooms. Grown using organic practices, we choose varieties for their shape, colour, smell and vase life - not for how well they transport in a cardboard box overseas.

Flowers have a unique ability to evoke sentimental emotions, to make our days happier or to gift as an act of thoughtfulness and love. We specifically grow heirloom and unique blooms that raise positive emotions and make our hearts flutter.

The farm's largest goal this year is establishing our perennial plantings - in particular our peony patch, my most personally connected and sentimental part of the farm. When we were kids, my parents worked shift work so we spent a lot of time with my Grandma and uncle taking care of us. At their house by the pool where we spent most of our summers, there was a huge fluffy peony patch - and I thought they were so stinky, I didn't take to them right away.
Flash forward to adulthood: I miss those moments dearly. I now adore the intoxicating perfume and appreciate their million peddles and frills. It takes me back to happy memories.
Amazing how flowers have the power to do that?! We've shipped some of my Grandma's peonies bare root from Ontario and in her honour, we’ve started planting +/- 100 new specialty peonies alongside hers this year. Perennials like our peonies, roses and woody stems are a big investment for a small scale flower farm - financially, labour wise and time wise - they won’t be ready to sell blooms from until they mature in 3-5 years!
But my gosh. Are they ever worth it.

Jen's (flower farmer) childhood dream of having a rare breed pumpkin patch, in addition to their cut flower line-up will be coming to fruition in Fall 2021.
